TCOE India and IMT-Advance Standard of ITU
TCOE India has been accepted as one of the eleven evaluation groups for the IMT Advanced Standard (4G) evaluation process of the ITU, and has been very actively involved in all the evaluation stages.
TCOE India in association with CEWiT - IIT Madras, conducted the first pan-TCOE workshop for the evaluation groups participating in the evaluation of RIT/SRIT candidate proposals for IMT Advanced Programme of ITU-R from 6 - 11th July 2009 at IIT Madras. It was attended by 56 participants from six TCOEs, COAI, C-DOT & TEC. The participants were divided into sub groups and an action plan for the Evaluation process was devised.

A team from TCOE India in association with CEWiT participated in ITU Working Party-5D, in its 7th meeting at Turin Italy in Feb 2010 and had provided the interim report of Evaluation.The interim report contained the progress in the 3GPP and IEEE candidate RIT evaluation and a proposal on an open area rural path loss model to be used as an additional evaluation scenario. This model is based on available measurements with the Indian railways and captures the actual demography in India where the technology will be deployed.
As a part of the evaluation process, TCOE India organized a 2 day workshop of the Independent Evaluation Groups from Russia, China and India along with Ericsson-Sweden which is the technology proponent & self-evaluation group for the 3GPP LTE-Advanced Radio Interface Technology. The meeting was held on 22nd-23rd April, 2010 at New Delhi.Agenda for the meeting was to share evaluation results of Open Area Rural Model for India.There were 23 participants participated in the meeting with 2 members of the Russian Evaluation Group, 6 members from the Chinese Evaluation Group, 2 members from Ericsson Sweden(participated actively through Teleconferencing) and 13 members of the Indian Evaluation Group as well as other participants who have been following the evaluation process closely.The meeting was successfull.Each evaluation group presented its evaluation results of Open Area Rural Model.
TCOE India participated in the ITU WP-5D Meeting of IMT-A evaluation results at Da Nang,Vietnam on 9th-16th june,2010 and submitted the final Evaluation report on the IMT-ADVANCED CANDIDATE RADIO INTERACE TECHNOLOGY EVALUATION. Download Final Evaluation Report
