TCOE India at India Telecom 2008 Exhibition

Telecom Centres of Excellence India participated in the India Telecom 2008 Exhibition held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 11th to 13th December 2008. All the seven TCOEs at the IITs, IIM Ahmedabad and IISc Bengaluru and the Coordination Centre at Delhi participated to make the event a success. The event was jointly organised by the TCOE Coordination Centre and AICET – IIT Delhi, which was the lead centre for this endeavour.

Each centre brought with them 2 to 3 working projects for which live demonstrations were organised. Some notable projects were SIMRAN from BITCOE – IIT Kanpur, ReMeDi from RITCOE – IIT Madras and InDRA from TICET – IIT Bombay.

The idea behind participating in the exhibition was mainly to draw the industry’s attention to the TCOE India initiative so that they could look at it as a source of telecom technology and solutions. The concept of a unified platform for telecom R&D was showcased in front of some of the biggest entities in the Indian telecom sector. The response has been very encouraging with numerous telecom companies showing an active interest in associating with the TCOE India initiative.

Thiru A. Raja, Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology visited the TCOE Pavilion on 11th December 2008 and Mr. Siddhartha Behura, Secretary, DoT on 12th December.

The event was a tremendous success in informing the public in general and the telecom industry in particular about the TCOE India initiative and its activities.
