Research
Projects being undertaken
Short term Projects
- Evaluating Security, vulnerability and Disaster Recovery in Aircel Networks
- Simulation of the entire network, evaluation of its vulnerability, survivability and disaster recovery process. Simulations can do non intrusive testing & sensors to be located at various points in the network for identifying intrusions
- Near Field Communication (NFC)
- NFC Is a wireless connectivity technology with built in security for short-range communication between devices. It is to be tried out on mobiles for
Toll payments with authentication even for micro payments and Village environment - access to information such as for health care, bus timings, ticketing etc
Medium term Projects
- Secure Electronic Micro Payment Systems
- Development of protocols, algorithms and implementations for hand-sets for various payment options including peer-to-peer and small-value payments as well as handling of authentication, security and integrity
- Secure system - Secure phone conversations,Creation of private user groups
- Development of a buddy list for communication in a secure mode with pre defined security levels. Investigation of key escrowing scheme to make the process compliant with the national security policies.
- Wi-Max Trials at IISc Campus
- Establishment of a Wi-Max base station in the Indian Institute of Science & creation of a Femtocell cellular network paradigm for inside building, as well as emulation of a village connectivity test bed for newer class of applications including Mobile TV, IPTV and Video on Demand.
- Survivable Storage
- Identification of both research and commercial file systems & understanding their features by laboratory level experiments. Retrofitting of these file systems with security layer or enabling the inbuilt security features for building Survivable Secure Storage.
